To bring so much awareness to something as vitally important as our Ocean, the heart beat of our planet is 100% worth supporting.

Ocean Guardian is a 63 foot purpose built catamaran based on the Polynesian style of catamaran developed by James Wharram. Custom built over a 5 year period and launched in 2003 with the sole purpose of creating environmental and cultural awareness. She has done over 80,000 nautical miles up until 2020 under the name Pelican 1.

AIP acquired Pelican 1 in 2021 to continue the great work of the former owner Gary McKechnie. After almost 20 years of service, and with Covid grounding the AIP team, we decided it was time for a top down refit. We also renamed Pelican to Ocean Guardian to give her a fresh new start and to better reflect the work we intend to do with her protecting our oceans.

Our mission is to support Ocean Guardian to expose people to the wonders and importance of Sea Country and to support communities around the world to build awareness and protect our Oceans.

Ocean Guardian will be ready for action January 2022 and through AIP, you can apply to charter her for any projects that bring awareness to our amazing natural world and community endeavour.
